Donaldson Company, Inc., is a
worldwide supplier of filter systems and replacement parts. Beginning in 1915 as
a three person shop, providing air cleaners for farm tractors, Donaldson
establishes itself as an R&D based company with a intellectual property business
model. This grew into producing filtration products for a wide range of industrial and
vehicle engine markets.
Donaldson
did not find its way into the dust collector business until it aquired Torit® Company in the early 1970s.
In 1987 Donaldson took over the Day Division of Carter-Day, a
dust
collection equipment manufacturer. Donaldson acquisitions of industrial air filtration technology is now applied to a
variety of industries and environments, including: welding, pharmaceuticals,
woodworking, chemical, metal fabrication, foundries, food processing and
composites.
Donaldson Company experienced serious growth in the 1990s due to numerous acquisitions,
including, but not limited to, Aercology (small dust collection products),
AirMaze (compressor products) , and DCE (dust collection, specializing in
baghouse filtration products.) During this time a distribution
center was opened in Rensselaer, Indiana, which is now the central shipping
point for most of the company’s engine and industrial replacement parts.
Donaldson continues to cross pollinate its product lines by acquiring suppliers
in related vertical markets.
